Gymnastics Gives Back

Lake Norman YMCA Gymnastics Gives Back!

In our community, the zip code you’re born into has the potential to determine your future.  Where you live can affect your education, your success, your health and even your hopes and dreams.

At the Y, we believe everyone deserves the same opportunities, no matter who you are or where you’re from.  That’s why we work tirelessly to close gaps and bridge divides.

That’s why Lake Norman YMCA Gymnastics has joined the YMCA of Greater Charlotte’s cause.

But, we can’t do it alone.  We need your help to power our transformational programs and sources – from early learning to college prep, water safety to healthy living.  We give everyone the opportunity they need to reach their full potential.

Our goal is to have 100% participation. We are asking for your donation from Monday, March 18th- Saturday, March 23rd.

When you give to the YMCA Annual Campaign, you partner with us to tackle our community's most critical needs, including:

Third-grade reading proficiency is a critical predicator of success in school, career and life. Children who are not reading at grade level by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school. At the Y, we are determined to change the outcome for children most at risk of falling behind. From targeted intervention programs like Y Readers to infusing literacy curriculum into traditional Y programs, we are powering learning opportunities that help position all children for academic success.

When you give to the Y, your gift has the potential to provide children and families in need with access to high-impact youth development programs that can shape a child’s future. Your generosity could fund the financial assistance a child needs to be able to participate in YMCA summer camp, afterschool, preschool or youth sports.

Drowning is the second-leading cause of accidental death for children ages 1 to 14, claiming the lives of three children every day. That’s why teaching children how to be safe around water is not a luxury – it’s a necessity. At the Y, we believe a child’s safety in and around water should never be left to chance. We’re determined to prevent childhood drowning by providing everyone with access to high-quality water safety instruction and swim lessons.

Our nation’s health struggles are well chronicled with the rise of obesity, type 2 diabetes, stroke, heart disease, cancer and other conditions. The Y is dedicated to helping people understand their risks and achieve health and well-being at every stage of life. From cancer wellness to rehabilitative support, diabetes prevention to weight loss, we offer the support needed to fight chronic disease, improve mobility and lead healthier lives.

The Lake Norman YMCA, in partnership with Carolinas Rehabilitation, provides an adaptive water skiing program for adults and children with disabilities. Through water skiing, participants gain the self-esteem and confidence that comes from being independent and away from the wheelchair. Thanks to generous community support, the Y offers the only adaptive water skiing program in North Carolina.

The Livestrong Program at Lake Norman YMCA is for cancer survivors who are 18 years or older, ready to commit to a healthier lifestyle and want to enhance well-being through spirit, mind and body. Participants meet two times per week for exercise including cardiovascular, strength and stretching exercises, as well as group discussions and goal setting.
