A Night Out for Johnston
The Johnston YMCA, a historic YMCA in the heart of NoDa Arts District, has served families from some of our city’s most underserved neighborhoods for over 70 years.
With everyone’s help, we will be able to fulfill our goal and empower those who need us most. The generosity of our 2019 donors assisted the Johnston Y in positively affecting the Charlotte community through the following areas of impact throughout the year:
We served over 510 unique campers over the course of 11 weeks in day, preschool, art, sports and teen camp.
Not one child was turned away because of their parents in ability to pay for summer camp. $66,839 was awarded in discounts and camp scholarships.
All campers were exposed to swimming lessons (164 summer camp sessions) with a certified instructor, with multiple swim lessons each week. We saw great improvement overall with the children’s swimming ability.
Empowered 53 kids in our afterschool program for kids K-7, giving our kids a safe place to go after the bell rings. $24,300 was awarded in discounts and scholarships. Our kids in the afterschool program receive help with homework, mentorships, hot meal and snack.
In partnership with Urban Ministries, the Johnston YMCA’s SABER program provided spiritual, mental and physical health to 64 recovering substance abusers.
In addition to the promotion you’ll receive at the event, the proceeds from your donation will help us provide swimming lessons and water safety education courses at apartment complexes here in Charlotte, help rising first through third graders that are reading below grade level, summer camp much more!
Thank you for taking the time to consider making a vital investment in the families in our community.
Give to our campaign today! Together, we can help the Y create opportunity for all.
